Did you know that keeping a gratitude journal can be a key part of living a happy and successful life?
By recognizing and acknowledging the many things, events, and people you come in contact with, in your personal life, that you are grateful for, you will quickly notice that you will be in a better mood and mindset. That mindset leads you to success.
With that better mindset that you develop, you will begin to attract more of the things you were already happy about.

The Law of Attraction
The law of attraction says that whatever it is that we focus on we draw or attract to us.
Ever notice how your days go from bad to worse when you dwell on or resent the things in your life that make you miserable or that you THINK make you miserable?
If you think long enough about the negative events and occurrences that happen in your life, that’s the mindset you will develop and the mindset that you will keep. How can you have gratitude if your mindset is stuck in the negative?
This is where having a gratitude journal comes in.
What’s The Purpose of a Gratitude Journal?
You can turn things around and change that negative thinking. You can learn how to express appreciation for the things that you are grateful for in writing. Enter a gratitude journal.
A gratitude journal can be a simple notebook all the way to an elaborate custom-designed journal made specifically for writing moments of gratitude in. The choices are unlimited.
The purpose behind it is to write continually, every day at least one thing you are grateful for and why you are grateful for it. Sound simple?
Let’s see why and how to change that so it becomes simple.
What To Write In Your Gratitude Journal
The hardest part about getting started writing in a gratitude journal is finding things you are grateful for. Sure you may say “I am grateful for my kids, my family, my health, my job…” But after you mention those obvious things what else are you grateful for?
You must first find a way, any way, to actually feel some appreciation and gratitude before you can be grateful right?
How do you do that?
What To Be Grateful For
Have you thought about being grateful for the challenges that make life such a growth experience? Maybe you can be grateful for all the learning lessons that happen each day or week that helps you grow as a person.
But it doesn’t have to be something that challenges you. Sometimes the simple things, you know, the things that we normally take for granted, work just as well as objects of our appreciation.
- Did you enjoy a great dinner today? Or dessert?
- Are there people in your life that you would miss if they were gone? Express your gratitude.
- Can you see? Hear? Walk? Talk? Express your gratitude.
- Is today a beautiful day? Did it rain and show a rainbow afterward? Express your gratitude.
- Have you read a great book? Or received a personal letter from an old friend? Express your gratitude.
Why Write It Down?
There are many things that can to be written in your gratitude journal.
Why write them down?
There is something about the writing process that makes things so much more real. I have written in previous articles about the power of written-down goals. Well, gratitude, especially as a path towards greater prosperity and abundance, works the same way.
Once you write what you’re grateful for, watch what happens.
You will feel much happier. Things just seem to start working better. Sometimes some new signs of prosperity and success will come very quickly, sometimes they may take a while.
Some Final Words…
You can be assured that as long as you keep seeing the negative side of things and only concentrating on them, you will keep chasing any incoming signs of prosperity and success away from you.
So be positive and thankful. Then welcome all the good that will be flowing into your life.
